John and Renate Hammond are marking more than four decades as curators and practicing artists with the opening of their Private Museum in Dover, Kent. The museum is home to the Hammond Art Collection, a unique and personal archive that reflects their lifelong commitment to contemporary art.

The collection has evolved over the past 40 years through carefully selected acquisitions and generous gifts from artists exhibited by the Hammonds. Their curatorial journey began with Galerie am Theater (1979–1992) in Fürth, Bavaria and has continued through Art-Agency Hammond, which they have run since 1993.

Today, the Hammond Art Collection features over 650 works, including more than 400 by Renate Hammond herself—an accomplished artist and graduate of the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg. You can explore her work at www.renatehammond.eu.
