Willi Meder (1940 - 2024)

 

Wilfried Meder, known as Willi Meder, was born on 15 December 1940 in Leipzig.

 

He trained as a graphic designer. He graduated from the Hochschule für Grafik und Buchkunst in Leipzig, specialising in painting, illustration, and book design. He worked as a freelance graphic designer from 1964 onward and as a political cartoonist for the Leipziger Abendzeitung from 1965 to 1975. 

 

In 1984, Willi and Bärbl Meder left the GDR and moved to Wachendorf near Fürth in Bavaria. There, from 1985 Willi Meder worked as a graphic designer at Faber-Castell until his retirement.

 

In 2016, Willi and Bärbl Meder moved to Herzlake, Lower Saxony.

 

Willi Meder died in Herzlake on 18 June 2024.
