Sayed Amin Fayed (1950 – 2010)
Sayed Amin Fayed was born in 1950 in Egypt.
Largely self-taught artist Sayed Amin Fayed mainly applied gouache and water colour, in a refined and original way, to make his paintings. Sometimes he added sand or fabric and so he produced pictures, which resemble collages.
Sayed Amin Fayed was a dreamer and a philosopher. Originally he shaped stones into ambiguous figures. Some of his pictures show traces of his sculpture work. He also paints beings of water and skies, adorning them with flowers. Then again, in a desire for harmony, he expresses his vision of a peaceful co-existence of all religions and the unity of all living things. Within this idealistic view, he depicts plants, animals and men ambiguously melting into each other and growing out from one another.
Sayed Amin Fayed possesses an unfathomable source of imagination. Women are depicted as having magic powers. They have an erotic aura and are very proud of their achievements.
Sayed Amin Fayed lived and worked in the vicinity of the pyramids where he had built himself a little atelier next to his parental home.
Sayed Amin Fayed died in 2010 in Nazlet-as-Zaman, Egypt.
