Kevin Coyne (1944 – 2004)
Kevin Coyne was born in 1944 in Derby, England and died in 2004 in Nuremberg Germany.
Kevin Coyne was not just internationally well known as a rock poet and singer but also as a painter and writer. In 1961 he enrolled at Derby College of Art. He released forty albums, published five books with short stories as well as writing plays, film music and much more.
In 1985 Kevin Coyne moved to Germany and received the ‘Kulturpreis’ of the City of Nuremberg in 1992.
The New York Times once wrote: “Kevin Coyne is probably the only blues singer that paints in an expressionistic stile, publishes books about Elvis and Teddy Bears and releases albums with titles like ‘Sugar Candy Taxi’.”
