Edward Chiwawa (b. 1935)
Edward Chiwawa was born in 1935 in Zimbabwe and was initially carpenter.
Since 1967 he was trained by Henry Munyaradzi in stone sculpturing.
From 1970 to 1973 he lived in Tom Blomefields Tengenenge Community of stone sculptors and then he moved to Chitungwiza near Harare, where he set up his own stone sculpture workshop.
He has his own distinct style developed, which presents the human face very minimalistic.
His circular, always friendly "moon faces" are appealing at first glance and radiate a unique charm.
