Barbara Heun (b. 1963)
Barbara Heun, born in Schwandorf in 1963 and daughter of the well-known art historian Dr. Hermann Heun, lives in Erlangen and has chosen the moment as an object to paint. In addition to people, since 2007 she has increasingly painted animals - monkeys, dogs, camels, sheep and pigs. Maybe that's because of her childhood. Growing up in rural Schwandorf in the Upper Palatinate, animals, especially the pig, have become a favorite motif. "Fred büchst aus" is perhaps one of her most famous paintings. With this picture she was also nominated for the art prize of the Nürnberger Nachrichten 2016.
Barbara Heun found her way into painting through her deep fascination with colours. After about two years of free painting and on the search for new ways to create an image, her interest in depicting people soon crystallised, which she describes in expressive yet sensitive character and milieu studies. It is particularly important to her to capture spontaneous situations and haunting facial expressions. Therefore, musicians, immersed in their playing, are one of her favorite subjects. She is less concerned with the reproduction of reality and more with freely implementing the impressions she has received or the photo templates that she sometimes collects for theme projects.
