Toni Burghart was born in 1928 in Nuremberg where he still lives today. He was trained as a lithographer at the Academy in Ellingen. He soon gained recognition as a graphic artist. His art work created around 1960 in the stile of Informalism brought to him also attention abroad. Over the years he got influenced by Pop Art and created his own typical Franconian variaton. Burghart’s art in recent decades is known as ironic commentary to local political events, but with his landscapes, which he painted in bright coloured shapes he gained also national recognition. Toni Burghart was honored for his work with the Förderpreis and the Culture Prize of the City of Nuremberg.
