"It is a miracle that we are still here", says Renate Höllerer about the fifth Christmas exhibition in her Galerie am Theater, addressing a problem that concerns all gallery-owners in the cloverleaf-city (Kleeblattstadt) not only since yesterday. Who wants to sell here fine art and make a living with it, usually fights for survival.

That Renate Höllerer hasn't lost her sense of humour spreads optimism. In her anniversary presentation she is - one is tempted to say - represented with her trademark: fat, obese ladies who show the viewer the most visible excesses of the welfare society, which either are thought provoking or cause blatant rejection (negative reactions provoked the plump women even from other painter colleagues, as is to hear). The fat women are observed on the fitness trail, in an intimate coffee and gossip round and in training on the exercise bike. Lovely attacks with the pen, which makes viewers smile and is not just superficial fun about full-figured contemporaries as first sight made us believe.

Rhinoceros

Harald Hofmockel shows fantasies like the hideous "ET" with the rhinoceros, the rhinoceros with football or in a fantastic garden. "It's a miracle that we are still here", says Renate Höllerer. Some highlights are already planned for next year...
