Manfred Hürlimann was born in 1958 in Oberstaufen, Allgäu.
From 1977 to 1979 Manfred Hürlimann took on an apprenticeship as a church painter. From 1980 to 1986 he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Nuremberg and became in 1983 a master student of Professor G. Voglsamer. In 1984 he was granted a Stipendium at the Sommerakademie in Salzburg under Wolf Vostell.
In 1988 Manfred Hürlimann was awarded the Debutantenförderung from the Bavarian Ministry of Culture and Science, in 1992 the Förderpreis from the Bezirk Mittelfranken and in 2005 the Grand Prize from the "Nürnberger Nachrichten annual Arts Award".
Manfred Hürlimann lives and works in Nuremberg.
